About Lisbeth Bañales

Lisbeth Bañales, is originally from Valencia, Venezuela where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Carabobo. After teaching ESL classes to different age levels, Lisbeth decided to move to the United States. Her professional experience in America started as a substitute teacher. Once certified, she served as a bilingual teacher in the one-way and two-way dual language programs, teaching at different grades at the elementary level. Her professionalism and dedication to supporting bilingual students took her to the role of Instructional Coach for Math & Science, and dual language education.

As an educator, Lisbeth understood the need to leverage emergent bilingual students to work at their maximum potential. Following her passion, Lisbeth attained a master’s degree in educational leadership for multilingual learners at the University of St. Thomas. Lisbeth is a strong advocate of Dual Language education and wants to further her education by starting her doctorate at Texas A&M Kingsville.

Today, as a member of Sandra Mercuri Educational Consultants, Lisbeth focuses on different roles from coaching, co teaching, supervising, and curriculum writing to enhance administrators’ and educators’ knowledge about emergent bilingual students. Lisbeth supports multiple districts customizing and modeling lessons that integrate effective instructional strategies into their already established curriculum and practices.

Testimony

“Having the ability to inspire teachers and their perspectives regarding bilingualism is more than a passion, it is my responsibility as an immigrant, second language learner, and avid educator. If I get the chance to improve one little thing in each classroom I visit to support favorably bilingual instruction, literacy, and language development, then the love for what I do is evident.”
