About Sarah Martinez

Sarah Arnold Martínez, M.Ed., has been a Texas certified bilingual educator for almost 20 years. Over the years, she has held various educational positions. Not only has she been a classroom teacher in both transitional and dual language programs, she has also been a campus bilingual literacy coach and a district bilingual/ESL instructional specialist. In addition, she has been the Coordinator of Bilingual Programs for one of Texas’ top 5 most diverse districts.

In her various roles, she has created and provided research-based professional learning, written and overseen the implementation of bilingual and dual language curriculum, collaborated in the development of strategic systems and support for transitioning different school districts from bilingual programming to dual language programming, along with other administrative responsibilities from staff and resource budgeting to recruiting and hiring. As a bilingual educator, she feels one of her biggest responsibilities is to be an adamant advocate in ensuring emergent bilinguals receive equitable instruction that supports their cognitive, linguistic, and socio-emotional needs.

She has worked with Dr. Sandra Mercuri for approximately 13 years in several capacities throughout multiple districts. In 2021, Sarah Martínez officially joined Dr. Sandra Mercuri’s Educational Consultants team full-time. This position has enabled her to work with districts across the United States, where she develops customized dual language curriculum and provides job-embedded professional development.
